Pakistani actor Sarwat Gilani recently opened up about her struggle with postpartum depression after childbirth. In a candid interview, she shared her emotional journey following a difficult surgery and the challenges she faced while nursing her newborn. Sarwat described a moment when she felt overwhelmed and even considered hurting her baby due to the intense stress she was experiencing. Her husband, Fahad Mirza, reassured her that these feelings were part of the “postpartum blues.”
Sarwat emphasized the importance of recognizing that these feelings are not permanent and are a result of the mental state during postpartum recovery. She encouraged new mothers to educate themselves about postpartum depression to better understand and cope with their emotions during this challenging time.
Dr. Schumailla Bassi, Senior Consultant-Obstetrician and Gynecologist at Cloudnine Group of Hospitals in Ludhiana, explained that the period after delivery involves significant adjustments and recovery. She highlighted that regardless of the type of delivery, the body needs time to heal. New mothers should be patient with themselves and allow their bodies the necessary time to recover from childbirth.
